Hall & Oates

American pop duo Daryl Hall and John Oates met in a freight elevator while escaping a riot at the Aldephi Ballroom. The two went on to become the pioneers of a musical style they called “Rock & Soul.”
Hall & Oates had their first hit in 1976 with 'Sara Smile', and rapidly rose to fame right into the ‘80s with hits like 'Rich Girl', 'Private Eyes', 'Maneater' and 'Out of Touch'. All up they had six number one singles and six platinum albums and are probably best remembered for their songs’ catchy hooks and strong melodies, all of which had their trademark hint of soul to them.
