Jimmy and the Boys

Jimmy And The Boys were one of Australia’s biggest live acts at the end of the ’70s.

Rock writer Jenny Brown called them “a high voltage package of filth, glorious filth”. Their debut single was a cover of The Kinks’ 'I’m Not Like Everybody Else', and they scored their biggest hit with the Tim Finn-penned 'They Won’t Let My Girlfriend Talk To Me' (Top 10 in 1981).

Ignatius Jones – who went to Sydney’s St Ignatius College – later covered John Paul Young’s 'Yesterday’s Hero' for the Strictly Ballroom soundtrack. He is now one of the world’s leading artistic directors, being one of the creative forces behind the Sydney Olympics’ opening and closing ceremonies. He also created The Australian Outback Spectacular. Ignatius’ sister, Monica Trapaga, also found fame hosting Play School.
