Molly Meldrum has shown some improvement after a fall in his Melbourne home. He has now been transferred to rehab.
We send out our thoughts to you Molly.
During the 70s the two premier local bands were Skyhooks and Sherbet. There were those of us who loved the clean-cut surfing boy image of Sherbet. Then there were those of us who loved the glam, glitz and sexually ambiguous feel of Skyhooks. Shirl vs Daryl. Tell us which band got you rocking, or set your heart aflutter all those years ago.

Sherbert or Skyhooks
Skyhooks - definitely. They were 'naughty' boys out to have some fun - and share it with the audience. Their 'live' performances were always much better than their records - and they were fantastic entertainment. Great personalities - great music - great fun.
Sherbert or Skyhooks
Skyhooks were much better! The line-up was much better!
Shirl - The best front man an Aussie band has had (r.i.p)
Red - Oh the onstage attitude
Greg - The master of the lyric!
bongo - The Luscious locks of hair
Freddy - The most intricate drummer ever!
Their songs are great and are still appearing in the top ten songs. Gotta love the hooks!
Keep on hookin, coz i'm hooked on hooks!
Sherbet
Daryl and the boys did it for me,and always will. I went to Harvey's benefit concert, and saw Daryl a few months ago, and the memories of my years growing up with the boys, were just like yesterday. Daryl, by the way, just gets better every time I see him. Happy Birthday Daryl.. Love ya xxx
hooked on the hooks
omg the skyhooks were way better then those lame sydney girls the skyhooks were cool they pushed the boundaries shirl was awesome if you ask a random kid which would they prefer they would say skyhooks cause that the one there have heard off and plus the hooks are from melbourne so of course there better
Sherbet
Skyhooks were good but, Sherbet were fantastic, they had variety in their music, rock, pop, ballads and everything else in between, they looked good, were prepared to tour and appear on radio and TV relentlessly, their merchandise, such as , books, librettos, stickers, t shirts, calendars etc etc were better than most other rock bands of the day. They really locked into the marketing. They are the one band who should have made it bigger than they did overseas. If only they hadn't been required to change their name in 1979, things could have been different. As for Sherbet being Sydney, I seem to recall that they rocked Melbourne's Festival Hall to its foundations every time they appeared there. Sherbet were not just Sydney, they were National!!! They were a lovely band and it was wonderful to see them again in 2006 for the Countdown Spectacular. I also follow Daryl's current career and it is still terrific to see him perform to this day!
Sherbet or Skyhooks - part II - ChrissyCat
Does it have to be one or the other?
Skyhooks, Sherbet, Hush, Ted Mulry Gang, Dragon; the list goes on!
Admittedly, I was infatuated with Daryl Braithwaite. He reminded me (and still does) of my very first love.
Even my hyperconservative parents approved of Dazza. Snort!! Mmm... funny that my old Nana preferred Shirley & Skyhooks.
I bought every Sherbet album I could afford and received a couple as gifts.
In 1977, or thereabouts, I entered a radio competition (4GR Toowoomba) and won an autographed satin Sherbet bomber jacket. This was just prior to my first concert and I have to say I was pretty stoked!
It's not really a matter of one band versus the other for me - I just loved the whole 70s Countdown Aussie Rock Revolution.
Cheers to all who share my feelings - oh, and AC/DC rules!!

sherbet or skyhooks
orgo you are right. Skyhooks rule!
Sherbet or Skyhooks?
Skyhooks all the way-better songs,Shirl wiped the floor with Daryl Braithwaite as a frontman and singer, had more personality and didn't take themselves so seriously.
Sherbet are one of THE most overrated Aussie bands of all time in my opinion.
