Good afternoon. I don't really know where to start my Countdown experience. I came upon this website as I was looking for an old clip they/we filmed at the ABC for John Paul Young. I was lucky enough to attend the first and many other shows in the mid 70's and got to meet some fantastic people. People who I hope will one day read my inclusion. The clip I am after is JPY's Yesterdays Hero. In the You Tube versions its been cut down and I want the full unedited version as I appear at the end.
Long story short, but as fans we used to sit outside Ripponlea Studios, waiting to see who would arrive for this weeks filming. Then many hours later we would be let in. There was an old chap called Mr Caine, who used to act as the old ABC Security guard and he didnt know what to make of us all. Anywaya, one day Ian Meldrum and the crew came out and said they wanted to film us. They wanted us to pretend a really famous rock star was arriving and to go beserk. I was all but 15 or 16 at the time so I naturally went crazy banging away madly at the wire gate trying to get to some fictional popstart.Imagine my surprise when I saw it included in JOY's clip and it has been played ever since.
There were loads of other clips we were in, as some of the artists we didnt like, we would poke strange faces during the filming. It was all very good fun. I vaguely remember we gave Deborah Byrne a very hard time!
I was also wondering if any of my old ABC's friends are still around. Jenny Landolina, Sue Hathaway, Leeane etc.If you are around please let me know on this forum.

I need some help. I need the name of a song and the artist. I remember seeing the song clip on Countdown. I can hum the tune but the lyrics escape me and it's driving me nuts. I do recall there was a male lead vocalist and a female singing the chorus. She had short cropped hair, dressed in jeans with braces, a white shirt and wore a black chokker around her neck. The only part of the chorus I remember is "Baby it's you, da da da da da ...Baby it's you yeah yeah". I thought the guy might have been John Waite of the Babys fame???? Any ideas

I think there should be a 3rd Countdown Spectacular Concert.
With Some more great Australian Acts (I am in no way being racist).
4 I would like to see are, The Church, Mental As Anything, The Angels (Original Line up), and Men At Work (If not Colin Hay & Greg Ham).
Also, since 1 hit wonders performed on the previous tours, it would be good to see The Swingers, or Phil Judd singing Counting The Beat & James Freud (The Radio Stars) singing Modern Girl.
I was born after Countdown but I love that era of music.

I wonder whether I can obtain the Countdown Top 100 charts from 1974 to 1987? Are any of the Countdown magazines back issue available?
